October Birdfeeding Tips

Yellow-rumped
Warbler
Migration of flickers, robins, bluebirds, thrushes, Yellow-rumped Warblers, sparrows, and grackles is now occurring. Keep your birdbaths filled: many migrants will stop to drink and bathe. Bluebirds, robins, and thrushes will stop and feast on dogwood berries. Make sure you include dogwoods or other berry-producing trees in your landscaping plans. If grackles are hogging the feeders, put out safflower seed. Grackles and squirrels usually do not eat it, but chickadees, titmice, finches, and cardinals will enjoy it.
