Do squirrels regularly ravage your bird feeder? Lillian shows viewers how to keep them away by diverting their attention elsewhere. Next, a look at the function of bird song is followed by a fascinating journey to Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Massachusetts for a glimpse of warblers, ducks, shorebirds, and swans. Finally, the Stokes explain how to choose his and her optics, then offer viewers a moment to watch that popular woodpecker, the Northern Flicker.

How-To: Keeping Squirrels Off The Feeders
Squirrels can be diverted from bird feeders by setting up a squirrel entertainment center. There are many new squirrel "toys" and foods available. Corn cobs can be stuck on a little squirrel "table" with chair, or on the ends of the spokes of a squirrel "spinning wheel." There is also a squirrel munch box that can be fillled with peanuts. The squirrels learn to lift the lid and help themselves. To find out how you can prevent squirrels from getting on your bird feeders click here.

People and Birds: Parker River National Wildlife
Located on the coast of Massachusetts north of Boston, this refuge is one of the finest birding sites in the nation with more than 300 species recorded. The refuge consists of 4,662 acres of diverse wetland and upland habitats and is of special significance to shorebirds and waterfowl. While any season can produce good birding, spring and fall are some of the best times to visit. During migration you will see large numbers of migrating warblers, such as Yellow-rumped Warblers, and other songbirds, as well as shorebirds and raptors.
